Sommelier’s Comments or Relevant Aspects: The Toro Designation of Origin is located in Castilla y León, southeast of the province of Zamora, with a vineyard area of 5,500 hectares. The area is characterized by an extreme continental climate with Atlantic influences and an arid character. Cold winters and high sunshine hours are excellent conditions for grape development. The origin of Orot dates back to 1980, although it was in 1997, seeing the development and possibilities of the D.O. Toro, that it was decided to build a winery in the town of Toro, the heart of the Designation. Orot has 20 hectares of its own vineyards of the Tinta de Toro variety, over 15 years old.
